Requirements for Driving with Instacart

There are clear requirements for delivering groceries with Instacart. It is important that you study the Instacart Website for all the latest details and requirements for driving with Instacart, especially for your particular location.

Generally, to be a full-service Shopper, Instacart requires that you:

• • Are at least 18 years old.
  • Are eligible to work in Canada.
  • Are able to lift 15 kilos
  • Have a valid driver’s license.
  • Have access to a car, with insurance coverage.
  • Clear a background check. (Instacart helps you do this) (Done annually)
  • Acquire a set of insulated bags.
  • Are willing to sign the legal agreements which reflect your arrangements with Instacart.

As you are probably aware, you must provide your own technology: A verifiable email address and cellphone number; and a smartphone and data plan with sufficient coverage for all your online work and road time. Also, you must use insulated bags or hard coolers when transporting temperature-sensitive foods. You can get insulated bags through Instacart or on your own.

To activate your Instacart account, you must download the Instacart Shopper app and use it to sign up. You will be asked to upload a photo of yourself and your driver’s license, and to provide other information for your profile and for your background check.

Once you provide all the documentation, it should normally take up to a week for the background check to be done and the registration process to be completed. By then, you should have received in the mail your Instacart payment card, and you’ll be ready to immediately begin making money as an Instacart Shopper.
